About the Trip

November 2-9, 2017

Rabbi Joel and Aviva Tessler led the Kehilla 2017: Greece trip. This fascinating journey to Athens, Halkis, Larissa, Salonika, Veroia and Volos, enabled participants to discover the history of the Jewish presence in Greece.

The Kehilla Program mission goals and objectives were to:

  • Establish cultural, religious and personal relationships with Greek Jewry.
  • Assess short/long term Greek Jewish community needs vis a vis meetings/discussions with Greek Jewish community leaders.
  • Perform chesed activities in Athens, Halkis, Larissa, Salonika, Veroia and Volos.
  • Meet with Israeli and American Ambassadors, Greek Jewish leadership; and non-Jewish leadership about  Jewish safety, security civil rights and anti-Semitism in Greece.
