If I have to describe our trip with one word, it would be: UNFORGETTABLE.
It was amazing to reunite with my friends from the other side of the world. Getting off the bus at BT for the first time, even with the exhaustion of the full day of traveling, I couldn’t have been happier to see them again.
Even though the time has gone really fast and the trip is already over, this past week feels like one month because the tons of activities we’ve had.
We had the opportunity to experience the life of an average American teenager. Personally, it was really interesting to see the differences and the similarities between the Hungarian and the American system.
During the trip, we spent the nights at houses of BT students. It was amazing. In my case, it meant Rikki’s family. I can’t thank her family enough for this past week. They were extremely helpful and made me feel as if I were part of the Margalit family.
The highlight of the trip for me was definitely the Shabbaton that we spent at the school. The atmosphere that we created with the prayers, with singing and with the DMCs (deep meaningful conversations) was amazing. It made me feel like I was part of their community and I even forgot about the five-thousand-mile distance we normally have between us. Because at that moment we were together, singing in a big circle, as part of our new community and a part of the Jewish nation. The spirit and the vibe we created made it perfect.
Next time the choice of date could be different as now this time was the busiest and most stressful one week for the seniors, because of the deadlines of the college applications. Also for the juniors it was a really busy week.
It was really good that we could visit the lessons at school. The afternoon activities were really good and I had so much fun. Personally, my favorite activity was the trampoline park.
There are no words to describe how pleased I am that I’ve had the opportunity to be part of this program. I realized that the best things happen in life when I push myself and step out of my comfort zone. This journey helped me find out more about myself and made me look at the world from a different perspective. I have learned the value of friendship and the importance of being part of the Jewish community. ~ Emese
