Half a World Apart – Still the Same

It’s day one at the Lauder school in Budapest. We have traveled from our school – the Adelson Campus in Las Vegas, Nevada to Budapest, Hungary. The school is beautiful and inviting, from the rainbow across the entrance to the mirad of connected buildings and spaces. I am half a world away from home and I look around at the students and staff, and it feels just like home.

I see the students in the halls and classrooms and they could easily be students from our school. They are inquisitive, interested and typical teenagers; from their fashion sense to their smiles and laughter – they are just like my students.

The Lauder teachers and staff care so much for their students and each other. As we met and discuss our schools this morning, we realize we too aren’t very different from each other. We both have a strong love and caring for our students and are continually on the search for ways to improve our teaching and our school.

Day one of five is complete and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us tomorrow!
