What’s our MO?

modus operandi
noun
A particular way or method of doing something.

It’s day 5 at the Lauder school and today has been a reflection of what we have learned and experienced throughout the week. As we look back at lessons we have observed and taught, the students and faculty we have met, I am contemplating our MO and the similarities and differences between the Lauder school and our own.

Our goal is the same – to provide a quality education for our students, but our approach does differ in some areas. From the classes we provide at each age level, to the way we allow students to play – there are differences. Which is the best method? Are there things that work here that wouldn’t work for us or visa versa?

The benefit of such a robust program like this is that it isn’t a “one-off”. This program has been planned and organized by Alan Reinitz and Glynis Smith to be a five-year commitment between both schools. We first share our teachers, and later share some of our students. Our communication will be on-going. I am encouraged by this type of continual process and the advantages of evolving communication with my partner teacher and the Lauder school.

So while we might not have all the answers right now, I am excited to be part of this journey to find out more and grow as a teacher and a school in the process.
