After hearing so much about Frajda and the Krakow JCC, we were thrilled to finally be here. Today was a government declared holiday, celebrating Poland’s 100th year of independence.
We were happy to have an uninterrupted period of time to meet with Gosia, Justyna, Marika and Magda. We toured the school and then got down to the business of sharing. After introductions, we talked about our many ideas for the learning that will take place this week. We did some interactive, thought provoking exercises to introduce the concept of the value of cooperative learning.
We also began talking about how to weave Jewish values into the daily life of the classroom. We talked about the concept of “Hineni”, “Here I am”, and our image of the child.
We discussed the values of taking care of the earth and our belief that children are capable and competent. We can hardly wait to return tomorrow!
