Our stay in Las Vegas was really, really unique.
I have learned a lot at the Adelson school. From next week on I will incorporate a different approach into my teaching methods.
I will set a specific goal to my band (e.g. involving other bands, other students to produce a musical or tailoring our repertoire to specific occasions, celebrations).
Also, we will put together songs that involve traditional Jewish music as well as my students` own ideas. I would like the songs to be in multiple languages (e.g. the first verse in Hungarian, the chorus in Hebrew and the next verse in English). I would like to produce music videos as well to upload them to YouTube. This way, people will get to know who we are and what we do, so we can spread the message.
I have also learned from my friend, David a couple of really good exercises, very creative ideas. My students will love them and without even noticing they will expand their knowledge on music quickly and thoroughly.
Our off-campus programs were unique as well. We weren’t just sightseeing as tourists. Visiting a food store of JFSA was alarming. We learned how their system works, who are the people to help. We also traveled through a poor neighborhood. I was glad because I know that a city is not just casinos and grand hotels. It is always alarming to see the other side of the coin.
I will realize how wonderful and helpful was this week when I travel home. I wish I could spend more time here. I want to thank Alan and Glynis and SOS International as well as to my school, Lauder Javne for making all this possible for me, for us. This week gave us so much and I cannot wait to spread the message and share my experience with my colleagues and students in Hungary.
Also thanks to Milly for hosting us. She ensured a great, very welcoming home during our stay in Vegas. ~ Peti
