With less than a week left before I depart for Hungary, I nervously await the journey to come. When I first read my name on the acceptance email, I felt ecstatic. I felt honored to have been chosen for this trip. Excitedly awaiting the trip to come, I imagine the wonderful sites, people, and memories that will transpire.
On this journey, I hope to bring my love and passion for Judaism to the students at the Sandor Scheiber Gimnazium School. Hearing of the restricted lives many face in Budapest devastates me. With my time in Hungary, I aspire to share my experiences as a Jewish teenager. I wish to disclose my adventures in the Jewish youth group, BBYO, and in my Jewish day school, Beth Tfiloh. My dream for this trip is to inspire the students and make them feel a strong connection to Judaism like I do.
As I have traveled out of the country numerous times, I greatly appreciate and relish each journey. I adored every excursion I went on because they left a large impact on me each time. I enjoy learning about other cultures, lifestyles, and traditions. I wish to learn as much and have as large of an impact. From this trip, I hope to gain many things. I have the desire to learn about their society and their struggles with practicing Judaism. I wish to build connections that will last a lifetime, make memories I will remember forever, and create a relationship with the school through my love for Judaism. ~ Naomi
