It is now halfway through the trip. We only have two full more days left before we get on a plane and go back to the US. I love it here, in Budapest. The people are so nice and friendly and just so welcoming to us.
Yesterday we taught the 4th graders. We did not have enough time for all groups to do their presentations, so my group combined with the dance group and we listened to our music and played a long game of freeze dance. It was such a great experience. All the kids had fun and all of us high schoolers also had fun. I had a great time because we got to talk and interact with all these young children who didn’t have the best grasp on the English language but were still able to interact with them through body language and by showing.
The beginning of this blog started while sitting at lunch in the SSG lunchroom. I had just finished eating the food and started to write my blog. The day had been great we had just gotten back from the zoo. The zoo had so many animals and was just a cool experience. I walked around with a group of Hungarians, they showed me how to get around and took me to all the cool exhibits. While walking around they tried to teach me their language but no matter how hard I tried I could not understand it. But in trying to learn I saw how beautiful the language is.
Now as the day comes to an end I am sitting in a ruin pub. We are sitting at small tables, and I am at a table of four with three of my friends. We were given one box of small pizza, but after what seemed like seconds it was gone and we got another, which was also gone within minutes. Now as I am writing this blog and listening to the conversations around me, I am amazed. Amazed at how people who met only three days ago could become so close. The way we act it seems like we’ve known each other forever.
I really hope that as these next two days go by we all get even closer. And even more I hope that we can all stay in touch after all this ends, and we go back to America. ~ Lily
