Today was bittersweet as we had to say goodbye to our wonderful new colleagues in Kraków. We had just spent the last five days with these amazing educators learning about their journey and getting to know how their passion and understanding of child development really allows them to create deep and meaning foundational relationships with the children in their care.
As we guided them through Jewish values and the constructivist approach to teaching, we found that they are thirsting to learn more… all they need is support, encouragement and trust in themselves. Fradja and the Kraków JCC are so lucky to have such amazing educators to work with the Jewish children and families that attend their school and engage in the community… you don’t really come across educators like this every day… they are truly special.
If you really think about it, and we are looking through Jonathan Orenstein’s vision for the Jewish Future, it really starts with the children. These magical teachers are the ones who are truly developing and nurturing the architects of the Jewish future through their passion to learn, their desire to honor and respect Jewish culture and their intentional and thoughtful engagement with the children and families…. That’s deep if you think about it.
We have now said goodbye to these magical people. I can only say that Lyndall and I feel so blessed to have been able to spend this time together with them. After a 2-hour train ride we have finally made it to Warsaw… which was amazing… where we were met by the Fabulous educators from the Lauder-Morasha School. We had a wonderful dinner together where we planned our learning together for the next few days. We are all excited to get started.
So, until next time… Do widzenia (goodbye)!
Mykenzie & Lyndall
