Our 12 hour-long flight to US began at the Budapest Airport, just like last year. We changed flights in Vienna where we had two and a half hours to explore the airport and grab something to eat.
After our tour at the airport we checked in and an hour later we got on the second plane. We travelled 10 hours with Austrian Airlines, where we had the opportunity to sleep a little. When we landed, we were exhausted, but also very excited. Our group expanded with 8 Hungarian 9th graders, and some new BT students.
We picked up our luggage and we met Alan Reinitz, the CEO and Glynis Smith, the COO of SOS International Enriching Jewish Identity. They escorted us to the bus which took us to Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School where we reunited with our hosts and friends.
In the school we had the opportunity to talk, and share our memories that we have had since our last year’s visit. For dinner we had Kosher Chinese food, which was like a blessing for us after that long trip.
I think we all missed our American friends and it was a remarkable day for all of us, even for the new members to get to know new people and get out of their comfort zone.
