Our first day at JCC was very interesting and inspiring. After a warm welcome from the JCC team, Lisa Murphy – the author of many important books – made an impressive workshop on Child Centered Education.
We learnt that Child Centered Education does not mean Education without rules it means that the teachers are controlling the environment instead of the children.
The Teachers job is to be the guide on the side not the sage on the stage.
We went on a guided tour of the school with Debbie.
We saw the classrooms as they were left at the end of summer and we are looking forward to see how they will be set up by the end of the week. We had the opportunity to discuss classroom management with the 4 year old class.
