A dream come true

I think still none of us have realized that we are actually in America, it feels like a dream come true. Personally, it all started as a pretty normal Monday morning. My alarm rang at 6:30 and I woke up ready to start my day. First I was a little bit confused why I was so tired than suddenly realized that I was in America and the answer for my exhaustion was probably jet lag. I was on top of the world while I was getting ready.
After everyone had breakfast at their host families, they drove us to school where we met After a short meeting we went for an alternative morning prayer. In addition to basic prayers we talked about what we are thankful for. Next, we did a seminar for the ninth graders in BT (our partner school). We gave presentations about Hungary (culture, history etc.). Right after this we had the chance to visit different lessons. It was really interesting to see the diversity of the education system between the Hungarian and American. Everything was different than in Hungary, even the length of the breaks.
Our following activity was to teach the fourth graders. We taught them Hungarian words and played different games them where they also could learn about things in connection with Hungary.
In the afternoon, we had another seminar and we went for lessons. In the last school period, we gathered together and had a small discussion about the day. Everyone shared how they were feeling and the highlight of their day. Some people shared their experiences about the classes they had visited while others gave feedbacks about the seminars. It was a really nice closing activity of our first school day.
After school, we had free time. Some of us went to a soccer game or to the mall.
I’m so thankful that after six months I was finally able to meet with my friends again, and so happy for this opportunity. ~ Emese
